I found Record of the Day yesterday over at English Muse (another blog I discovered yesterday) and thought it was such a fun, sweet blog that I had to share it with you. Collages are fun to begin with, but on a record and stamped wtih the date, just adds a great new twist!

Happy bday to my other half of the blog, my best friend, the only other person to understand my obsession with HSM and Disney Channel stars. There are too many memories and inside jokes from the past four years to list them all, and I know we will have a lifetime more.

Wish I could be up in SF with you today, but I'm counting down the days until our Palm Springs vacation in September.

A Day in the life of Tory Burch

Vogue UK and Style.com did profiles on a day in the life of Tory Burch last year. She is such a hard worker. In one of the articles, it is during fashion week, and she takes the time to go to the Carolina Herrera and Proenza show, because she believes in supporting designers she loves.

I have a new design crush. I am so smitten by her work, she may start to creep into the place in my heart that was once reserved solely for Ruthie Sommers( speaking of which, does anyone know whatever happened to her book)

Blogger Interview: Holly of Zucchero, Zucchero

We are so excited Holly is our July interview! Holly's blog, Zucchero, Zucchero is one of our daily reads, and is always keeping us inspired with her DIY projects, her craft projects, and just everyday living in her first home in the East Bay.


We are east bay girls (well, for college anyways) and are just loving how cozy you have made your Concord abode why did you decided to live out here instead of in the city?

As much as I love San Francisco, I always prefer coming back to the east bay where it is cleaner, quieter and I can always find a parking spot! It also makes it easier since our families and jobs are close by. Both my parents and Jon’s parents purchased their first homes in Concord, so I know we are doing something right! However, I would pick up and move in a heartbeat if Jon ended up with a law firm in the city and we had a beautiful Victorian house!

What inspired you to start blogging? What are your daily reads?

Two of my best friends had started blogs and a slow day in the office led me to do the same. I read so many blogs on a daily basis it’s easily one of my everyday joys. I love Little Molly Cake and White Lightening for fashion and witty writing, Design*Sponge and simplesong for décor and design inspiration and NieNie for her take on life and strength. Not too forget Sweet Nothings for anything and everything in between!

I must say, the reason we first stumbled upon your blog was the name..since I've spent a lot of time in Italy, it just drew me back! What is the story behind the name?

In preparation for studying abroad in Rome, Italy my brother suggested that I come up with a catch phrase that I could rattle off if I get myself into sticky situations and mix-ups (think: any episode of Three’s Company). I don’t remember who suggested it, but “sugar, sugar” came up which translates to “zucchero, zucchero” I run over you in my Vespa? “Ahhh, zucchero, zucchero!!” I spill gelato on your shirt? “Zucchero, zucchero!!”

We are crowning you the queen of DIY. Your place is amazing! DO you do them all yourself? Have you always been so crafty?

Thank you so much! With the exception of the black and white striped entryway which Jon played a pivotal role in, I mostly do them myself. I think my craftiness has been born again with the role blogs play in my life. I see so much inspiration on a daily basis, which has made me look at my own items and thrift store “junk” with a keener eye. In this economy and after purchasing my first house, being thrifty and crafty is almost necessary

What wisdom do you have for us who get so inspired by your ideas?

First, get inspired by fabrics, colors, and textures that naturally get your juices flowing. Look around your home where you notice dull or voided spots that do nothing for you. Maybe the office filing cabinet or that end table that used to be grandmas? Cover with paper, wallpaper, use painting tape and a fun bold color to create something new. Get inspiration from higher end stores and start thinking, “I can do that…!” Once you start with small projects, it will get the ball rolling and you will look at everything differently!



And finally, have you even ventured into Lafayette to see the one and only Diamond Dave at Petars?

No, but I have a feeling I will be Googling this very soon. ;)

*a note from Sweet Nothings: Diamond Dave performs at Petars weekly, which was one of the two bars we would frequent in college. He performs everything frm E-40, to Neil Diamond, Shakira, and Frank Sinatra just to name a few. Amazing.

Body Inspiration

Summer is in full effect, and I know I'm late on jumping on board the getting into shape train, but I went to the No Doubt concert in Concord, and was blown away by Gwen's amazing body. I cannot believe she has had two kids! Although watching her move around stage, there is no suprise her body is so great-i'm pretty sure she burned more calories in the first two songs than I ate all day.
Who do you use as fitness inspiration?

The Rachel Zoe project is my total guilty pleasure. I just love it. I actually met Rachel a year and a half ago at Waverly Inn, where she was dining with Marc Jacobs. After I composed myself and utterly embarrassed my mother with my teeny bopper like reaction, they were outside having a cigarette when we were leaving. If only I had my camera. But she was so nice, and actually, doesn't look scary thin in person.

But anyways, cannot wait to see all the new drama this season with Rachel

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

My name is Danielle and I am a Harry Potter fanatic. I am not one of those dedicated ones who dresses up and goes at midnight, but I'm a first day kind of addict. The movie was fantastic! and really, really funny. I was suprised how much I laughed. This was my favorite book of the bunch(followed by Goblet) so I was very impressed. I came to the realization very early that you have to take the books as the books,and then the movie as a different intrepretation. There is just no way to include the detail of J.K. Rowling into a movie under 5 hours( and this one is a long 3)

I am very interested to see how Deathly Hollows turns out, since they are doing it Kill Bill style and separating it into two movies.

How gorgeous did Emma Watson look at the UK premiere??

I thought Jamie Lynn Sigler looked just adorable at the LA Entourage premier last week. People have been telling me I remind them of her forever now. Well, they never say Jamie. They say Meadow, which then makes me really wonder if it is a compliment because she was kindy whiny and snobby in the begginning, but whatever. I personally don't see it, but i've had dates, teachers, even my father say it to me. I'm probably the least Italian looking person in my family( except when I dye my hair dark and talk, I am a notorious talker with the hands) My brother also is always told he looks like Christopher on the show. How odd.

So, who is your celebrity "look alike" if there is one..I personally think Sara and Anne Hathaway look quite similiar.

This interview in the Wall Street Journal makes me love Zooey Deschanel even more, I can't wait to see 500 Days!

Tiny Treat Necklaces

My sister and I were watching a movie the other night, and she commented on a wishbone necklace one of the actresses was wearing in a scene. Since her birthday is coming up in August I decided to search necklaces, and see what I could find. I love these tiny little necklaces on Fred Flare. Not only are the charms cute, but the size makes them perfect for my sister while she is out working at the barn training horses.

Season Five Project Runway Winner( and in my opinion, she has been the only winner who has truly deserved to win) Leanne Marshall's bluefly collection was previewed last week, and here are some sneak peeks. The eco-friendly line is a lot more casual than her fall 2009 collection
